Biography
A pure passion was conceived from the early 80's 'Electro' sounds growing up in a shabby council estate in North London but it was the birth of the new House sound marked by tracks by the likes of Fingers Inc. Marshal Jefferson and Traxx Records a few years later that was responsible for a healthy 10,000+ vinyl collection, lots of partying and over 30 years involved in the electronic dance scene to date.
At the age of 18 Carlos Francisco started his DJ’ing career in Spain working at local bars and clubs close to Barcelona at holiday destination Costa Brava.
Many nights were spent learning the craft of turntablism skills during marathon nightly 10 hour sets in the hot Catalan Summers of the early 90's.
In 1994, Carlos was introduced to a London promoter and begun Djing at more well known clubs at the time like Browns, Bagley’s, The Cross, Turnmills, Pacha and eventually a 6 year residency for Rulin' at the Ministry of Sound.
Carlos was taken on board by The Ministry Of Sound 'Dance Nation' and other tours taking him to many countries and venues around the globe.
Natural progression lead Carlos in to the studio to experiment with his beloved sound. Over the last two decades, the fruits of his music production have lead to some great success. His first vinyl release 'Sun Sacrifice' was pressed in 2000 with Javi Colors (Stereo Recordings) and shortly after La Liga on DTPM's label DTrax which won support from Roger Sanchez, Tom Stephan and John Cutler.
In November 2006, Carlos launched his own electronic music label
SP Recordings (Sure Player) at the legendary Turnmills (London).
The label now has over
500 releases from new and established artists from around the world concentrating on the more underground side of today's sub dance genres.
In 2009, Carlos moved from London to Fortaleza in Brazil were he set up his label headquarters and production studio. It is here were his productions have taken things to another level… Over the last 10 years, his tracks have been released on his own Sure Player imprint as well as many other reputable labels including MoBlack, King Street, Nite Grooves, Kolour, Vida Records, Blacksoul Music, Good Stuff, HEAVY, Celestial Recordings, Grooveland, Endemic, Soundmenonwax, Groove On, Submarine Vibes and Unrivaled Music to name a few.
His work has been heavily supported on both Traxsource and Beatport with many top 10 sales chart positions including 5 Number one positions that have taken him in to the top 100 producers on both Traxsource and Beatport.
His early breakthrough releases on Soundmenonwax titled 'Drums of Kadoma’ and “Ala De Mosca” on Vida Records, won support from the likes of Dj Sneak, Herman Catanneo, Osunlade and other big players on the underground dance scene.
'Drums of Kadoma' reached number 3 on the Traxsource Afro House Charts and was in the top 10 for over 4 weeks) while "Ala De Mosca" on Vida Records, hit the number one spot for over 5 months just as the 'Afro House' genre was introduced in 2013.
Never sticking to just one electronic music genre, his 'Nu Disco' track “We Remember You” on Blacksoul Music also hit the number one spot in the Nu Disco Chart in the same year.
Carlos also officialy produced a cover completely reconstructed from the ground up of the iconic classic House track
Fingers Inc. “Can You Feel It” by Larry Heard from the label Trax (Chicago)
This track went straight to number one on Traxsource with huge support across the globe as well as over 100 chartings on Traxsource.
Recent work in 2020 and 2021 includes a track with Mr V. on vocals titled
Place Of Love On top Brazilian label
Grooveland Music which reached the Top 10 Deep House charts. Yorona was also released on Moblack which hit the top 10 on Beatport as well as many tracks on other reputable labels as well as his own Sure Player imprint.
Future projects include a queue of great releases and a launch of his second record label 'Tikuna Trax" which will be focused on the more 'purist' Afro House with a heavy dose of Brazilian flavours.
